ON THAT BOX BECAUSE . . . It was the best way the camera operator could uplift a tiny child to the height of his lens. Even rudimentary makers must have realized that aiming down on a small figure would distort them so badly that no parent would pay for a resealed sixth plate likeness. A fantastic reproduction of the little girl’s shoes and stern expression. Inadequate elements in the maker’s lens caused the central distortion. Mold spiders and patina are on the surface. The cover is missing from a leather case.
