A WARY DAD! Self-pride was so evident when the young man tried to keep his squirming child relatively calm during a brief exposure while this resealed sixth plate was made circa 1849. Removing the loose leather case top revealed odd patterns of patina, minuscule white specks in places and two pings upper left and upper right done the day they were taken, when the maker flexed the plate during his buffing work.
