A DEMURE GIRL! She was a rather mysterious red-haired Irish lass with a face filled with freckles seated next to a display of grapes. Was she a vintner or simply a consumer of the best wines and Champagnes available? We will never know the truth except that the restored portrait was taken circa 1850 +- by Elbridge C. McElroy in Dorchester MASS, a town next to Boston. The black marks on the silver happened because over time the polishing rouge had not been pure and was tainted with imperfections. Tinting was brushed on the gal’s face and hands while her rings and that small book she held were painted with gold. Her sixth sized leather case has a separated hinge.
