WAS SHE A PERFORMER? Her costume, when she posed for this outstanding quarter plate daguerreotype was not one the gal would have worn, unless she might have been taken prior to a dance recital. The eager, youthful girl had been loosely taped in original paper seals before Casey performed the conservation. The blue haziness and fingers of patina surround the ballerina (most likely) but don't diminish the powerfully entertaining likeness. In fact, when the black leather push button leather case is opened and the masterpiece is appreciated in excellent light, the intensity and hues of the natural and applied colors change dramatically!
