"ANGELINE FORD - HALL". And there was this added information written on the back of a partial business card: "Dau. (daughter of) Capt. Caleb Ford & Dorcas Sherburne Gibson - Ford died Storm Lake IA (Iowa) 1905". The lovely Ms. Ford-Hall’s retaped sixth plate portrait has aged imperfectly. There is a very faint brown spot on her nose and a few others elsewhere. Also, one blue speck is above her luscious red tinted lips. Her maker, George Gilchrest, operated a dag salon at 82 Merrimac St. in Lowell MA when she visited his establishment shortly after 1850. It is obvious to me, that his room was equipped with a skylight. Notice the hot spot reflections in the top center of Angeline’s awesome bright eyes and how the shadows fell underneath her nose and chin. It was uncommon to see a young lady taken with a plaid shawl wrapped around her torso. When the repaired Japanned case, inlaid with mother of pearl and nicely delineated into a floral theme on the cover is opened the next owner will be delighted with the lass.
