WAS SHE A BRIDE? The manner that the youthful lass held her left hand (laterally reversed of course) with her lengthy fingers fully extended was meant in part to display her wedding ring. She might have been taken very recently after a blissful confirmation of love between she and her newly minted husband. The lass visited a daguerreian circa 1845. He not only provided her with a lovely archivally sealed sixth plate portrait but he included a worn but still intact leather case. The horizontal theme on the cover was an overflowing basket of flowers while the reverse was plain. A pale red silk pad was opposite the likeness inside. Rich patina is visible against the brass mat. There are a few mold mites on the deeply reflective mirror. The teeniest brown daguerreian measles are apparent if you use a loupe to examine the subject.
