Sixth Plate

A CHEMISTRY THING? The next collector of these tinted sisters will need a good light source and patience after their brown thermoplastic case is opened to find the sweetest angle of viewing them. The retaped sixth plate looks dull and rather soft until . . . well I can say I was amazed at last. Written on the bottom paper was “Cappy C. Nichols July 1857” and the girls’ names, which I can’t decipher along with their ages “18th year (and) 3 year”. Oxidation hugs the fancy brass mat with lines on the right, but not scratches.
