A CHILLY DAY! Why else would the very alert elderly gentleman have worn those thick woolen mittens while he sat in an unknown location to have this remarkable restored sixth plate daguerreotype taken? He assumed a comfortable pose and proudly displayed his beautiful cane. The maker instructed his client to look beyond the camera's position while he was bathed by bright light from the right side of the room and the lens was uncapped. Colorful patina flows inside the nicely embossed brass mat. It would be difficult to ascertain the man’s age, however he seemed to have courtly manners associated with his handsome face. A very unusual hinge repair binds the two halves of a leather case together. The overall brown tones are awesome!
