WAS HER FACE CROOKED . . . Or maybe the fine bonnet didn’t set squarely over her head. The woman’s face was etched with concern as he looked at us surrounded by lovely patina. The retaped sixth plate has a speck of exfoliation near the woman’s bonnet string. The cover of her leather case, circa 1845 is missing.
