D10-c. SURELY . . . She was quite convincing when the operator at Anson's gallery inquired about the pose his client wanted. One look at her elegant dress should have been a clue. The man accommodated the lady by raising the height of his adjustable table so she could drape her arm across the top. Her slight list to the right was crucial while she steadied herself for the resealed sixth plate exposure. Whenever I see such a bountiful face filled with freckles I always think that the subject must have had some shade of red hair. The daguerreian lightly colored her face and lips. The woman passively watched the cameraman work. The surface is well represented in my scan. There is one teeny mat abrasion at the top and a thin scrape on the cloth lower right. The repaired leather case and the brass mat both have Anson's studio information. $185
