| D10-9. A NAUTICAL THEME! This resealed ninth plate will add eye appeal in anyone's collection. Is this lad really old enough to have been a sailor? His maker created a perfect palette to receive the youngster's image. Then he embellished the anchor on his large plaid bowtie with gold and tinted his face realistically. A hint of yellow was painted on the hanky in his breast pocket! Excellent contrast and really fine depth are the strengths of the boy's likeness. That is a mole on his lip. Beautiful patina is inside the scalloped cutouts of the brass mat. Very faint brown dots are in a couple places. His leather case is apart. The pad inside has a very bold American Eagle with a Patriotic shield on its breast while clutching arrows in its talons. $225 |
