| D09-0P. THE MAN'S HAND . . . Arose from the girl's own shadow and his fingers gently touched her arm while a sixth plate likeness was made. The unhappy little girl nearly bit her lip in frustration as she wondered why her terrible parents forced her into such a horrible situation. Mother had a rather placid expression even though her child probably was in tantrum mode! I am intrigued by the lady's head shadow that was created because the subjects were seated close to the cloth backdrop and they were lit by strong light from the right side. If you look closely in that area of ghosted darkness, the vertical post of the head restraint and a wee bit of the iron clamp touching her head are both visible. Newspaper seals still tightly bind the package together and a clipping in the bottom of the whole leather case tells about The Native American national convention held July 5 (and 6 1852) at Philadelphia. Looking past all the doubled pieces of dust on to the surface, the dag seems to be in great condition with one brown spot on mom's solarized dress. There are mat abrasions in places along with a few tiny black circles from the polishing process. $165 |
