D07-118. HOLD YOUR THUMB . . . over mother while admiring the tiny cherub who wore a brightly tinted red necklace while their exceptional resealed sixth sized portrait was executed by an accomplished daguerreian and you just might be favorably inclined to make a purchase. I guess everyone couldn't look good when they sat for their daguerreotype. The soft creamy tonality contrasted against the vividness of the girl's red necklace and rosy cheeks is interesting. Her mom also received a splash of red pigment. Aside from those teeny brown dots on the woman's dress the silver is immaculate! Their remembrance was probably taken about 1850, the year Scovills new hallmark became fashionable: "SCOVILL MFG Co." stamped in a shallow arch with "EXTRA" underneath. The leather case is apart and the very common geometric motif was popular in 1845. Although no true blacks are seen, the depth is surprising. $210
