D06-99. THE BEST CHIN WHISKERS. My first question is: "Were they his hair?" I see his low riding beard, yet some frisky horse's hair (mane) and a pot of glue could have achieved the same effect, yes? The gentleman appears much too dapper to have sported that particular style, but he surely was too old to have a sixth plate dag made as some sort of prank. Soooo . . . if you like your men with odd facial hair, this outrageous fellow really does belong in your collection. I doubt if you will acquire another piece with such a pristine condition and perfect practical application of physical plate preparation. I guess you might conclude that I DO like the image and I think the operator was a genius. New glass and an archival seal allow us to thoroughly enjoy his visage. Endless depth, stunning richness of the tones and superlative contrast are all excellent. Okay, that is a mold mite in the patina in the upper left side. His case is worn and complete. The brilliantly embossed mint red velvet pad compliments the ruddy complexioned man! $425
