Her slightly parted lips formed a perfect mouth and her dark eyes, looking straight into the lens, caught the reflection of the light source that flowed around the pair from directly above. Her curly hair was parted in the middle and held behind her head with ribbons. I noticed that both gals wore similar dresses for their image while their collars and white sleeves varied. In fairness to the second sitter, she too is quite cute, but pales in comparison to her friend. Light red pigments were placed on their cheeks and lips. The physical dynamics of their arrangement is matched in excellence by the results of the daguerreian's skillful plate preparation. Holographic depth, amazing contrast and wonderful tones are impossible to reproduce in my scan. The hazy spots on the bright silver surface are actually part of the patina. There are two minuscule specks on the girl's face on the right and a teeny circle on her pal's shoulder. The intact common leather case has a perfect red embossed pad opposite the subjects. $2,950
