D03-241. PLAID DRESS. Certainly an uncommon arrangement is seen in this stellar sixth plate of a wary eyed boy watching the daguerreian. He is seated on a tiny tabletop that was covered with a fancy bolt of cloth. It appears that he rested one foot on a chair seat while the one closest to the camera dangled freely. Why would someone have given the lad that small whip? Hey, I'm not suggesting anything so don't get excited! I believe that a head restraint was in place for the resealed portrait, since a leather belt was tightly cinched around the child's waist and probably the vertical iron post. It effectively kept the sitter still. Wide blue/black patina adds mystery to the excellent image that possesses fabulous reflected depth! The mold spiders and white specks float around the bright surface, not hindering the little chap. He is held in a complete leather case. Just to provide you with added incentive to buy the boy, his hallmark is a very rare "MAGIC" impression. $550
