I believe that a head restraint was in place for the resealed portrait, since a leather belt was tightly cinched around the child's waist and probably the vertical iron post. It effectively kept the sitter still. Wide blue/black patina adds mystery to the excellent image that possesses fabulous reflected depth! The mold spiders and white specks float around the bright surface, not hindering the little chap. He is held in a complete leather case.
