CAW-673. NOT CERTAIN. Casey and I both wondered if the serious youth who wore a wonderful hat into a daguerreian's studio might have turned his head away from the lens to diminish what appears to be an elongated scar on his right cheek (the left side in his reversed and resealed ninth plate). Even using a loupe we couldn't make a conclusive determination. His steely blue eyes were focused beyond the plane of the plate when it rested inside the camera's darkened chamber. The silver has been cleaned and there is residue across the bottom. A dimple is in the background to the right of the lad's face. There are also a couple mold spiders on his holographic portrait kept in an ordinary thermoplastic case in good condition. $170
