D2-68. "G.D.M. . . . With his great aunt Mrs. Warren, 'auntie Warren'" was inscribed on a cream colored piece of paper that has been pinned to the red velvet pad inside the complete leather case with two lilies on the cover. There is some leather missing on the reverse, which is a geometric design. Above the first notation a light blue paper is also attached and another hand wrote, "For Georgy Miller, aunty loved him." Now that the setting for their spectacular sixth plate that Casey recently archivally resealed has been set, please allow me to tell you all that you will never find a more explosive and elegant likeness of a woman and darling little blonde haired boy! I purposely made a rather flat scan so the magnificent moirŽ pattern in Auntie Warren's silk over mantle would be revealed. Sumptuous doesn't begin to describe the contrast, tonality and textures of this brilliant achievement! The woman's beauty and her physical presence in their portrait are phenomenal!!! It was as though dark clouds parted and a ray of sunshine from above illuminated them in a master craftsman's studio. Her large dark eyes looked away and beyond the camera's location while Georgy sat impatiently on a small table. He bobbed his blonde head and tiny body while the lens was uncovered. The richness and holographic depth of their jewel is fantastic! A rarely seen brass mat that has both flowing and scattered patina along the curlicues frames them. There is a harmless white speck in the dark drop, a couple more spots on auntie's waist and two blue dots in Georgy's hair. I visited the bank last week and brought Georgy and his aunt home for the first time since 1992. They are MAGNIFICENT and will be a welcome addition to any advanced collector of fine daguerreotypes. $1,875.
