D06-175. SAVED . . . By the friendliness of the youngest sister who was placed at the peak position of the pyramidal composition while she and her pair of older sisters were daguerreotyped in quarter plate fashion. I know, you are pondering my statement and thinking that if SHE is good-natured, does that make the other two siblings axe murderesses? Okay, I don't know why they were so morose but I do like the arrangement of the threesome. The lass on the right entwined her arm with her partner while the middle girl crossed her arms rather than touching either of the other sitters' shoulders. An odd twist of daguerreian fate you might ask? Their likeness has deep depth, good contrast and nice tones. The white lines in the tarnish might be latent leftovers from a previous cleaning with cyanide gas. There are minor mat marks and a couple mold spiders. The subjects' faces are tinted. Did I mention that their dresses are identical? Contained in a complete leather case with delicate roses on both sides, the newly sealed plate was executed circa 1847. $495
