D05-91. UPSTANDING IN HIS TOWN. A moderately successful man who could afford his image and probably more. He leaned back in a small chair and watched his maker work. His serious stare may have belied his actual personality, yet in this resealed sixth plate he presented himself as a man in control. The contrast and rich tones are evident in my reproduction. There are mold mites and some specks on his likeness. The scuffing in the background is actually part of the daguerreotypist's worn cloth. The bottom of the leather case has a strange design and is missing some of the leather. $175
