D05-175. ADA FLETCHER . . . sat holding a book in her aged hands that were partially covered with fingerless black lace gloves while her rudimentary sixth plate resealed likeness was made. Although her image was purchased from a Connecticut collector's holdings, it is impossible to determine whose studio Ada visited. The light entered her space from a skylight. The contrast and tonality are both excellent. I think that her chosen daguerreian was an accomplished professional in at least a mid-sized city. There are dots and streaks in the pale patina reaching out for her, a few mold spiders and one brown spot on her shoulder. The broken floral case has an astonishing display of three flowers steam pressed inside on the bright red velvet pad. $110
