D04-231. HUNCHED FORWARD. There are so many visual components in this man's sixth plate dag that has been archivally resealed that I'm perplexed how to begin the narrative. I guess mentioning the man's posture might be helpful. He is rather scrunched up, to say the least. I think that one arm is resting on a tabletop. It appears that the fellow's thighs are raised to the level of his waist. Those gigantic hands are firmly clasped across his belly. The gent is well dressed and neatly groomed. That is a substantial metallic watch fob running across his vest. I bet by now, you are all wondering why I didn't ask Casey to remove the oxidation? There is something about the aging process, creating a natural vignette, as clearly seen in the scan that was attractive to my eyes. And, I have always stressed minimal alterations to the surface of daguerreotypes! You must know that if I ask Casey to clean the surface, there were REALLY artifacts that were visually bothersome. The poser presents us with an awesome character study. There is a single minuscule green speck to the right of the subject's head and a mold mite on his collar. He is held in the bottom of a common leather case. $195
