D04-20. "LATER MRS. WM. A. INGRAM." Catherine is not that cheerful in this portrait, so I hope when she married Mr. Ingram she became somewhat happier. Between her eyes is a crease from the clenching of her brow as if she were trying hard to see something. Was she angry or perplexed? There's no way she should be angry about her nice, yet simple appearance. Her buttoned down dress with ruffled cuffs is rather plain, accented with a brooch at the center of her unusual wide collar. That collar is so holographic against the darker fabric, that I can't count the number of reflections. A half leather case of geometric design holds the resealed sixth plate. Small, scattered brown spots don't really mar the perfect condition. On a piece of paper inside the case is written: "Catherine Kepple Hall-(Later Mrs. Wm. A. Ingram) 1834-1904." She must have improved upon her gloomy outlook because she lived to be 70 years old. $155
