D07-162. HETTIE COLLINS. Not on my best scanning day could I possibly replicate the delicate creaminess of the lovely lady's neatly sealed sixth plate gem. Ms. Collins sat in a classic daguerreian pose and was given a small dag case to hold while the rings on her fingers were prominently displayed and embellished with gold. Hettie wore more decorated jewelry and the unknown artist tinted her flesh tones with masterful strokes of his brush. This gal had money folks. Her costume and demeanor suggest a comfortable lifestyle. Superb contrast and unending holographic depth are both huge assets but again I say that the tones and colors as the plate is rotated are most impressive. I have placed her in a beautiful Holmes Booth and Hayden thermoplastic case with a horizontal basket filled with flowers theme. A plush embossed burgundy velvet pad adds to the presentation! Arches of patina displaying varying hues surround Hettie, whose name is written three times on the reverse of her perfectly polished surface. There are teeny mat marks in places. $645
