| MASCHER-D. NOT ORIGINAL. The pair of ma and pa tintypes inside the quarter plate push button leather case adorned front and back with a pebbled surface are not original to this "Mascher's Improved Stereoscope" that was constructed by John F. Mascher in Philadelphia where he was also a daguerreian. His patent for this viewing system was #9,611 and it was awarded March 8th 1853. There is some wear but the viewing piece is still firmly attached to the inside. I must tell you that looking through the eye ports at that couple is an unforgettable experience in weird stereo! $765 |
