D08-223. SHE'S RELAXED! The young beauty wore an elegant ensemble for her brilliantly produced archivally resealed quarter plate that has four sides bent upwards at almost a 90 degree angle. Because of that feature and unbelievable technical excellence, the hologram her likeness has created is almost in the fourth dimension! The next owner will sit in stunned silence after the whole leather case is opened, while watching his prize and getting acquainted. Who will speak first? The lady is so darned gorgeous and refined! The surface of her crown jewel has a few nearly invisible blue specks in the lower left on an otherwise pristine silver plane. The intricately sewn pattern in her dark dress and those huge puffy sleeves are worthy of an hour's close inspection. I believe the double silver twist attached to her collar contains two locks of hair covered by glass. I purchased the amazing image in California and I am wondering if one of the leading San Francisco or Sacramento daguerreians in the 1850s used this unusual plate preparation. Thomas Easterly and several other St. Louis operators did bend their sides up. Hints of original tinting remain on the glorious gal's face. An exquisite effort made in an unknown city. $825
