D04-224. CONSERVATIVE . . . Doesn't accurately describe the man's straight ahead pose in a loose bust fashion. Lighting from above hooded his dark eyes while he was instructed to sit still and fold his hands across his waist. I know that men and women tried their best to look spiffy when they had sixth plates taken. However, it is rather comical to look at their hair (especially the stacked or flyaway varieties) in many examples, when the follicles just weren't obeying the brush! There is fine contrast, clarity, tonality and reflected depth in the guy's image. After the piece was resealed, the hints of oxidation and the pristine condition were both evident. The wooden and paper case is apart and well worn. $145
