D04-172. ABOUT TO JUMP. The daguerreotypist posed this young boy (my assumption) very nicely. He stands on the seat of a plush chair and leans on a posing table that is cranked up to a high notch. Although the little tyke managed to keep his body still, he still moved his head at some point during the exposure. His face is tinted. I like how the white of his smock-like shirt draws your eyes onto his face. He is wearing a longer skirt underneath, but it's in the lower, darker area. The sixth plate image has some light, brownish-yellow spots on the surface and it is resealed. It comes in a whole leather case that was commonly used in the late 1840's. $255
