D03-228. IS IT OVER YET? At least that's what this female child seemed to be thinking as she sat for her sixth plate daguerreotype. Her slightly down turned mouth, tinted pink to match the highlights in her chubby cheeks, isn't frowning, really, but could have been a few seconds later. Someone gave her a flower to hold. Was it a chrysanthemum? One petal rests in the fold of her polka dotted off-the-shoulder dress. Perhaps she waved it around a bit before sitting still. Mom must have missed removing that one last petal before the lens was uncapped. The little gal's face is in perfect focus, with her large liquid eyes gazing directly on to the expertly polished, highly holographic silvered surface. The image has been resealed and resides in a full leather case, with a cupid's head in the center, surrounded by ornate circles and geometrics. Meaningless mold spiders can be seen in the darkness around the cunning sitter. Rich patina naturally vignettes the youngster. $290
