D03-135. HOLDING A BOOK. Her large liquid eyes calmly watched the itinerant or maybe a small town operator as he made his best effort to produce her resealed sixth plate daguerreotype. The young gal was truly a local beauty. Nope, those aren't hayseeds hovering around her. They are mold spiders. The blue hue in the highlight areas was partially diminished when the maker presented the portrait to his patron, because he daubed some color on her flesh tones. He also painted her teeny heart shape locket and two rings golden. The lass lies inside an intact leather case with a variant of the delicate roses theme on both sides. Upon opening the box we see a marvelous blue velvet pad embellished with a single delicate flower. The velvet liner is a lovely blue hue too. Another wonderful primitive portrait with a few additional flecks and specks. $155
