D02-138. BIG BOOK, TOUGH HANDS. I don't usually like to repeat myself, but this lady just says tough to me. Maybe it's her stern look, or the fact that her hands are rougher looking than mine are. She was a rugged lady. Her rouged face is almost as rich as the red case pad that is opposite her. The cameo at her lace collar appears to me to be a woman wearing a Greek or Roman style helmet, which is very interesting if it is indeed that. On the table at her right is a rather large book, almost as imposing as her. The condition of this resealed sixth plate is very good except for a mat abrasion on the right and that pesky mold spider on the upper left side. A whole case, signed by Pretlove, a prolific artisan in the mid-1840's, with a floral design holds down this substantial lady. $130
