D01-84. REALLY RED BRACELET. The first thing that jumped out at me was her red bracelet, and then the gold tinted chain at her waist. She isn't smiling or frowning, just indifferent. Her dress is low cut at the shoulders with large lace sleeves near her wrist, and a choker around her neck. She also wears a gold tinted ring on her right hand and a bracelet tinted gold at the clasp on her left wrist. Next to her is a familiar short column with a book on it, which she leans her arm on. Casey has deciphered the title, "Encyclopedia of English Literature". (I have recently catalogued several outstanding dags, all with the identical column. One of them has a book resting on top and delicately signed in the pages on the plate is "CHURCHILL". Rensselaer Churchill was an amazing daguerreotypist who operated in Albany, NY, from 1849-59, after having a gallery earlier in NYC). While I can't guarantee that the retaped sixth plate is handy work, the superb quality is very consistent with his best examples. There is tarnish/haze around the edge near the mat, some staining of some sort on the lower right, and a spot on the left side above the column. I would be remiss if I didn't add that the depth is holographic. The leather case is apart. $525
