D01-36. MOUNTAINS OF CURLS! She might not be the most attractive young woman who ever sat for her sixth size daguerreotype in the mid-1840's, yet not many carefully sculpted their hair with such perfection. The daguerreotypist's overhead illumination found her impeccable part along the top of her head and reflected dimly off her raven tresses. That looks like a newly made wedding band on her ring finger. She is wearing a classic dress with a multitude of pleats that is gathered around her slender waist. The resealed surface does have many mold mites. Her cheeks are tinted red and there is tarnish tracing the outline of the octagonal mat. The bottom of the leather case has a delicate roses imprint. $245
