Other Photos

OP-592. SHEEN AND SPARKLES. This is a nifty photo object. I've had it for a few years and now it can brighten up your room! The mother of pearl pieces and glitter are glued, as is the photo, to the back of some glass and viola! The 8 x 10 object probably was in a frame at one time. I might have seen one or two others like it over the years. The photo is faded, but condition is otherwise good. $75

BC-17. PARACHUTERS. This is a cool photo for a few reasons - the silhouettes of the planes and the jumpers and then the surprising definition of the white parachutes. I think I have the orientation of the postcard sized photo right. The image has some marks and a little dent in the right margin. It's a bit grainy, probably because of the quality of the original film and the conditions at the time. $45
SNAP-336. AUSABLE CHASM. I didn't bother to look up where this is, probably Upstate New York? It has subtle tinting and measures 2.75 x 4.5. $12
DAD-11. YOUNG BOXERS. I love this photo! The kids each have such personality - and a lot of freckles! I wouldn't be surprised if the kid on the right had bright red hair. Their image is a fit faded, but in otherwise nice condition. It measures 4 x 6. $20
CW-608. EXPLANATION? I really can't offer any. They are cool photo copies of drawings, but I think you just had to be there. They are dated 1891 and each seems to be about a certain Professor Griffin at some college. The images are 4.25 x 5.25 and in good condition. $95
SNAP-98. THE LONESOMEST GIRL. What else is there to do at camp than take funny photos? Well, a lot, but this one and the next display some gals making meaning out of sheet music and props. "Madison Lake May '26" is written on the back. This 3.5 x 4.5 snap is a bit yellowed, but in nice condition otherwise. $50
SNAP-99. A CACOPHONUS CONCERT. The all have different sheet music. I wonder how that sounded. "Madison Lake May '26" is written on the back. This 3.5 x 4.5 snap is a bit yellowed and has a teeny tear in the top boarder and a bent lower right corner. $35
OP-588. BIRDS AND FLOWERS. This paper tin is in good condition and the mount is about postcard size. $18
SNAP-337. LOOKING IN ON BABY. This snap is mounted to a bit of album page. The photo measures nearly 3 x 5 and is in good condition. $18
OP-593. ON THE PHONE. Each of these tiny photos (about 1.25 x 1) has light marks. $20
CW-613. BY THE FALLS. Which falls, I do not know. The two women were most likely there to fill out an artistic composition. The images have good tone but light marks. $35
OP-591. IN THE GARDEN. This 8x10 image is only a tad crooked... The smiling ladies had been picking flowers and stopped for a photo. The image has a few marks. I bought it with the next two images. $45
OP-589. WHAT ROSES! I wonder if the colors are accurate? This image is also 8x10 and has a few marks. $45
OP-590. SUPERB TINTING. Not only is this lovely image evenly tinted, but the color scheme works wonders. The look on her face is great. This is definitely the best of the three images. The 8 x 10 image has a few marks. $95
Ambrotypes & Tintypes

A-110. COULD YOU CROP OUT MY HUSBAND? Easier than a divorce, some photo 'magic' could remove your husband from a photo! I bought the ninth plate ambro without the mat, glass and protector that enclose it now and so I immediately noticed the slice of man on the left side. The ruby glass image is in nice condition considering that it was loose not long ago. $35
T-473. BABY WITH GOLD. This tin comes in a paper frame and has a few light marks. $15
T-472. A LEARNED MAN. Oh wait, that's a painted backdrop! The image has some light marks. $15
T-471. KEENE GIRL. And what type of a photograph was a 'promenade'? Can anyone tell me? The tin is in nice condition and her name is scrawled on the back if anyone can make it out. $18
T-474. BANGOR LADY. This tin comes from the studio of S.W. Sawyer in Bangor, ME. According to the back, "Sawyer has the largest Gallery in the City or State; three large skylights, and every convenience to do good work. He is determined to make the best Photographs for the least money." I would say this is a good photo. It has light marks and a gentle bend. $15
Cartes de Visites & Cabinet Cards

CDV-587. BOSTON MAN. I think the photographer was A. Sonrel, but his cursive signature on the back is a bit difficult to read... The image has a few light marks on the periphery. It's a great vignette. $18
CDV-266. ACTRESS BY GURNEY AND SON. This CDV was very slightly trimmed to just inside where the gold borders ended. The surface is clean, although faded. I have no idea who she is. It's a dramatic pose though. $35
CDV-586. COUPLE AND PAIL. It looks like their lunch could have been in there. They are very happy in anticipation of whatever delicacies they had packed. The CDV is probably turn of the century and is by J.A. Tice of Janesville, WI. The image is lightly silvered. $22
CW-611. RAISED EYEBROW. Was he questioning the unidentified photographer's prowess? The image has nice tone and a few light marks. $12
BC-15. SWISS LASS. Glarus appears to be in Switzerland. The photo is a nice one, although I wonder why the young woman was looking down? The image has nice tone and a few light marks. $18
CDV-585. OUR LADY OF LOURDES. I'll let you read the back to get the gist. The image is in nice condition. $25
CW-612. VARIATIONS. Germon shows us two interpretations of the same negative, each nicely tinted. Those images are a bit faded and each has a few marks. The images were taken in 1866 and are Abby, Louis and Ethel Goodell. Ethel was the eldest and the other two CDVs show her too. She married Mr. Will Freeman on April 15, 1889. The two later images have a few bends. The tinted one is by W. W. Seeler and the other by Broadbent Brothers, both of Philadelphia. $55
BC-16. GREENHOUSE. This photo has a lovely nearly purple tone and presents and equally lovely image. The light is very nice and the depth of field reaches to the end of the aisle. The image is European, but I don't know where from. The image has some light marks visible at an angle and the spots in the upper right, most of which are on the mount. $60
CC-614. WIDE EYES. This Washington, PA portrait is quite nice. It is dated Jan. 1886. $12
CC-612. DAPPER YOUNG MAN. He has a bit of the sultry about him, Mr. Frank Ostrom. The photographer was the very able Dana of Brooklyn. The image has light marks. $25
CW-609. NICE PORTRAIT. I like this image a lot. It is very direct and has a nice tone. The condition is very nice. The photographer was Shackford of Farmington, NH. $15
CW-610. SMILES. I'm willing to bet that we're seeing the backside of a business - an inn or restaurant - and that these folks were workers. That's the feeling I'm getting. The image has some marks and a few spots. $22
CC-611. ON THE PORCH. This is a lovely portrait of three friends or perhaps sisters. The photographer was Hosmer of Concord, MA. The image has just a few light marks. $65
CC-613. VESUVIUS. I've owned this card for quite a while now. The little boy is super cute. He's a very patriotic little sailor. The image has just a few marks. $265
Postcards

RPPC-535. PRETTY IN PINK. I love the pink background on this otherwise black and white postcard. It is in good condition. $35
RPPC-532. PRETTY LONG HAIR. Yikes. How do people manage that?! This funny photo has a few marks. $65
RPPC-533. SIBLINGS. I think the younger one is a boy, but I'm still not sure... The card is in good condition. $15
RPPC-536. BASKETBALL TEAM. This team photo was used as a new year's card in 1908. The boys have funny looks on their faces and it seems artificial light was used. There are some light marks on the image. $25
RPPC-534. SAILOR BOY. Despite the dainty pose and clean clothes, little Charles Sweeney has a bandaged knee, showing he'd gotten into at least one scrape. The photo was taken in July 1919. $12
RPPC-537. ALL IN GREEN. Perhaps that's the only color our unknown colorist had? Each card is dated October 1912 and was taken somewhere in Reading, PA. I love the poses and the interesting angles. Each card has a few light marks. $125
