D12-9. TWIN SISTERS! For all you nay Sayers . . . who are asking, "Dennis how can you be certain?" I would indicate to everyone that if they were NOT born within one day of each other, then maybe their mother was impregnated soon after giving birth to the gal on the left who wore the most impressive strands of pearls I have ever seen given to a child. There might be some merit to you doubters since her sister also wore lovely pearls but each one was much smaller. And cutting the edges of making comparisons, the gal's brooch was slightly larger then her sibling's jewelry! Their archivally taped quarter plate rests in the bottom of a leather case. The kids are instantly admired when their portrait is viewed. They wore identical dresses and rather odd aprons with open string laces down the center. Similar cloth ribbons adorned their medium hued hair. While they shared that open book, which was an unusual arrangement for two children, it is the girl's placement of her hand on her companion's shoulder that permanently bonded them. Neither subject had an angelic expression on the day the dag was made, while both pairs of eyes were riveted on the lens! Fantastic tonal range, excellent contrast and holographic depth along with pale tinting on their skin worked in concert with marvelous illumination and that black hole behind them to give them life even today. Deep patina creates another dimension inside the mat where tiny mat scrapes are evident. A marvelous mesmerizing likeness created about 1850. $865
