D08-63. WHAT WAS IT . . . That really attracted me the most to purchase the stunning young lady's sixth plate with new glass and an archival seal? I thought her alluring dark eyes could reel in any man. Her raven hair covered by that delicate dark lace is mysterious. Could those full lips have convinced me subconsciously? The style of her perfectly sewn gaily-patterned floral dress that was pleasingly tinted covering the lady's sumptuous body, bare across the shoulders, certainly was an unmistakable attraction. Her jewelry touched with a shining glow of gold and the black ribbon around her neck were marvelous accessories as she posed with such perfection with her elbow on the tinted tablecloth while touching her cheek with those long exquisitely formed fingers. She held a leather sixth plate daguerreotype case in her other hand. The Southern Belle cooperated with her unidentified maker to achieve a masterwork on silver. Fantastic depth and fabulous contrast change intensities (as does the tinting) when the bottom of her leather case is held in good viewing light and she is admired. A blue and white label (see second scan) was glued on the outside of the case. I can decipher the sitter's name, "Lydia Crabtree" and "Mother's friend". I will let the next owner complete the word riddle. One mat mark is visible upper left near two round spots of tarnish. Next to Lydia's right elbow and to the right of her head are two small places that have been abraded. You might notice them for an instant, but trust me on this point, as the teen is appreciated, they will be forgotten. $1,000
